Facebook security! what you need to know....
From time to time my ears hear stuff that they wouldn't like to hear, like people being hacked on Facebook.
You keep all of your info on your Facebook right: email, interests, Family and friends. If you are compromised all of your friends are also!
This leads to a Lot of questions.
But there is one simple answer, Go to (and you can trust me) account settings and chose the drop down list of account security, check mark both HTTP and when someone (other than you) log in that it must email you!
You are now in an encrypted mode, It lowers your risk of being hacked....
on next log in you will be asked for a new computer name, type in any name that you prefer and make sure you remember it (Tip: don't give a computer name at an internet cafe, only to your personal computer). The only reason for this is if someone (other than you) logs in from another computer you will be notified through email.
An HTTP encrypted mode is also available on twitter, mainly any site you visit (you just have to check the settings)
Having accounts encrypted, is just another layer of security. Lets say you are on a phishing site, your account will recognize your not on HTTP and you will not be able to send your account info tho the server of the phishing site.
What about my firewall then?
Your firewall is only one part of security, although a good one might block hackers on your Computer, what happens when your offline? You can never say when will you be hacked, (if you think you will never be hacked think again) there are many ways of hacking account's: Phishing sites, key loggers, viruses, hacking you through command prompt etc.
some av's protect phishing sites but might miss some.
Remember: it's better to be safe than sorry!
