Making a switch from windows to Linux isn't that difficult, all you need is the will to completely do it!
You have to remember always adapt. Not using windows any more, means not using most windows programs, you will have to learn seeking alternatives. Lets say you use the Microsoft Office suite
you will now have to learn using the Open office suite. Mainly all the programs will be different in application form. Your main task will be to turn PROGRAMS into APPLICATIONS.
New application awaits you, like Thunderbird mail client, rhythmbox music player, VLC video player, OpenOffice.org office suite and pidgin IM.
Also new ways of doing things. You are used of using a control panel in windows right?
Well in the biggest Linux distro ubuntu, there is no control panel, which means doing thing way differently. Alternatively you have a “control panel” menu called the settings menu.
Also some stuff isn't that easy to do, just like on windows (only x2 worse). Doing things like:
~ installing an unknown application that isn't in the ubuntu software centre nether in the synaptic centre, you will have to go and add the whole “registry” path for that application (which by the way is called the repository)
~ The Drivers :(, That is halfway fixed, but on some Linux ditsro(the Linux flavour) You don't even get it to work out of the box!
~ and mainly some other “stuff”
The choice is yours, ether stay with the easy windows or go to the Linux experience, that offers:
~ freedom of choice, ~ virus free computing, ~ a really great experience when everything finally works, ~ really cool effects and skins!
